Spare Ribs – Braai recipe

The quote of the week – “Vegetables are not food. Vegetables are what food eats.” 

I’m so in the mood for Ribs. So this weekend I’m going to try this braai recipe


  •  1kg lamb spareribs
  •  Toasted sesame seeds to garnish


  • ¾ cup soy sauce
  •  4 Tbsp lemon juice
  •  1 Tbsp sesame oil
  •  1 tsp minced garlic
  •  2 Tbsp chopped fresh rosemary


  • Mix together all the marinade ingredients. Pour into a resealable plastic bag, add the lamb spareribs and toss to coat. Allow to marinate at room temperature for 30 minutes, or refrigerate 2-4 hours.
  • Drain off the marinade. Braai the spareribs over steadily glowing coals or a low gas flame for 10-15 minutes, turning regularly. Alternatively, fan grill under a high heat (230°C) on a foil-lined tray for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally until browned.
  • Serve the spareribs with a sprinkling of toasted sesame seeds and extra soy sauce for dipping.
